Retreat Terms and Conditions

1. Contract

Your contract is with La Maison Trumeau, Siret (company number) 88992186200013 referred to as “we”, "our" or “us” in this contract. A binding contract is only entered into when we issue a confirmation letter upon booking your place on one of our retreats and paying your deposit. By contacting us to make a booking, you accept that you have the authority to bind all members of your party (if booking on behalf of others) to these terms and conditions.

2. Information regarding the retreats

Whilst we make every effort to ensure that the information on our website and elsewhere is as accurate as possible, our itinerary and details are often published many months before your retreat takes place. We reserve the right to make changes to the programme, on our website and elsewhere we can control the editing of information. You will be informed of any changes as they arise and we will ensure we accommodate any changes such as restaurant or wineries with alternatives commensurate in material value. La Maison Trumeau is only responsible for information contained within our own publications and websites. We are specifically not responsible for third party information contained in any other brochures or websites.

3. Payment for your retreat

A non-refundable deposit of £250 is required at the time of booking to reserve your place on the retreat. There is an option to pay in full or pay in 2 additional instalments to spread your payments. The balance is due 4 weeks prior to arrival at La Maison Trumeau. If the booking is made less than 4 weeks before the retreat starts, the full amount is due on booking. If any balance remains unpaid, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled and apply the cancellation charges set out below. Final retreat details will usually be sent out approximately 1 week before departure.

Payment can be made in 2 ways, via the platform We Travel (using Stripe to process their payments) or via BACS to us directly. You are responsible for any relevant currency exchange charges and other bank charges. 

4. Cancellation and Refund Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing (email) by the person who made the booking and are effective on the day we receive it. As we incur substantial costs and losses on a cancellation, we will apply the following cancellation charges:

Where a retreat has been paid for in full via a single payment, if subsequently cancelled, the following policy applies:

  1. Cancellation date is more than 1 calendar month before the start of the retreat: 33% of the amount paid will be retained as a non-refundable deposit. The remaining 67% will be refunded back to the card on which the payment was made.
  2. Cancellation is equal to or less than 1 calendar month before the start of the retreat: The full booking becomes non-refundable as such 100% of the amount paid will be retained.

Two Stage Payments

Where a retreat has been paid for in full a two payments, if subsequently cancelled, the following policy applies:

  1. Cancellation date is more than 1 calendar month before the start of the retreat: 33% of monies paid, will be retained and the rest refunded, no further payment will be due.
  2. Cancellation is equal to or less than 1 calendar month before the start of the retreat: no refunds applied.

5. Amendments of cancellations by us

i. Amendments
It is occasionally necessary for us to make changes to the advertised products and services and we reserve the right to make such changes. In exceptional circumstances we may have to modify your retreat itinerary after booking. If the change is minor we will do our best to notify you in advance but are not obliged to do so and no compensation is payable.

ii .Cancellation by us
Whilst we hope that we never need to cancel your retreat, we appreciate there are circumstances where it can happen. Should it be necessary to cancel your retreat, we will endeavour to offer alternative arrangements of equivalent or similar standards. Alternatively we will provide a full and prompt refund.

iii. Force Majeure
Compensation will not be payable in any cases where an amendment, change or cancellation is due to “force majeure”, being unusual or unforeseeable events or circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which neither we nor our specialists tutors could avoid. These include, but are not limited to, a pandemic, a war, threat of war, riot, civil disturbance or strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial disputes, technical or maintenance problems with transport, machinery or equipment, power failure, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, flood, drought, adverse weather conditions, levels of water in rivers, acts of God, closure of airports, changes of schedules or operational decisions of transport providers.

6. Prices

All prices advertised or quoted are per person in pounds sterling unless otherwise shown and are subject to change, up or down, until the booking is concluded.

7. Exclusion of liabilities

We take care to ensure that all involved in the preparation and supply of your retreats maintain the highest standards. Accordingly:

i. We will pay reasonable compensation if the product supplied to you is not of the standard described or contracted for by you. This compensation will exclude accommodation and food supplied at La Maison Trumeau.

ii. Our liability to you does not apply if you or any member of your group is at fault; if the failure is the fault of someone else not connected with providing the services which form part of our retreat contract with you; the failure is due to any unusual or unexpected circumstances beyond our control, which we could not have avoided even if we had used all care possible or the failure is due to any event which we or the supplier of any service could not help, expect or prevent.

iii. It is your responsibility to safeguard your personal items and valuable items. Such items include, but are not limited to: Passports, Visas, travel documentation, money, credit and debit cards, jewellery and electronic goods. We accept no liability for loss or damage to such items, whilst attending the retreat.

8. Complaints

If you have any complaints during the retreat please liaise with Mandy and we will do our best to help resolve any problems. Any unresolved complaints must be notified to us in writing within 30 days of your return.

9. Passports, Visas and Vaccinations

It is your responsibility to ensure that all necessary passports are machine-readable. All passports must have a validity of at least six months from your scheduled return date to your home country. You will generally need clear/clean pages for visas, as required, to be inserted. You must read all documentation that is supplied to you and ensure that all information contained within is correct.

You should also ensure that all necessary visas, international driving licences, vaccinations and other health documents are in order.

10. Travel Insurance

Your retreat with us does NOT include travel insurance and it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate insurance cover. In accordance with normal industry practice, we will require you to have adequate travel insurance to provide accident and medical cover before your arrival at La Maison Trumeau. Such insurance should ideally be valid from the date of booking, be valid throughout the retreat duration and financially cover any probable loss through cancellation, amendment, accident or health related problems.

You should ensure you are covered for all activities you are planning on your trip.

11. Special Requests

Whilst we will endeavour to comply with any special requests such as diets and room requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you.

12. Jurisdiction

This contract is governed by English Law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Data Protection Policy

In order for us to process your booking we will store and record your information, including data as supplied in your booking on a personal hard-drive, which is password protected. We will respect your privacy and your details will not be shared, publicised or used for marketing purposes. We simply record your details on a spreadsheet, to enable us to keep track of payments and booking details.

14. Travel arrangement

We do not arrange flights or travel for any of our retreats.
It is your responsibility to make necessary travel arrangements to Saumur.

15. Booking

Your retreat booking will be confirmed upon receipt of:

1) Payment of a deposit - in the event that your booking is received more than 8 weeks prior before the commencement date of the retreat.

2) Receipt of full balance - in the event that your booking is paid in full at the time of reservation.

16. Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers can be provided on full payment of the specific retreat you wish to purchase as a gift. Please contact us directly to confirm name of recipient and contact details and ways you want to present the gift. A bespoke gift certificate will be provided on confirmation of request.

17. Changes to the terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions without notice.
