Upholstery Skills Retreat
Led by Jacqui Jackson, an expert in traditional upholstery and French antique furniture. Jacqui has over 25 years experience in upholstering antique French furniture, after gaining qualifications at the London College of Furniture. Jacqui buys, repairs, upholsters and sells French furniture through her website, to private clients and interior designers and you'll often see her at various fairs in the UK throughout the year.

Group size: 4-6 people
Suitable for all levels of upholstery, from complete beginners to all levels of experience. We will have a call discuss your project with you in advance of the retreat to understand what area you would like to work on so you can get the most from your time on the retreat.
We are offering day attendance at the workshops and residential programmes.
Included in our residential programme:
A welcome 4 course meal on Saturday night
Healthy French inspired breakfast and lunch everyday (wine served with lunch and a glass of sparkling wine and nibbles at 5.30 at the end of the workshop)
Basic upholstery supplies
Transport to the French Flea market in Chinon
Half day leisure on Thursday morning for wine tasting/shopping as desired

Wine Retreats
Our wine retreats are tailormade to showcase some of the best and most innovative producers in the region. During our time in Saumur we have developed great relationships with many of the winemakers in our region. By personally handpicking wine producers for each themed retreat, we know you will get a fun and enjoyable experience exploring wines in the region. We will introduce you to high quality wines, show you the whole wine tasting experience where we will take you to the plots where the grapes are grown for each winemaker we visit, meet the winemakers at their domaines and hear about how they create their own expression in their wines, adapting their techniques according to the soils and environmental influences. With the inclusion of staying at our home, you will have the opportunity to further chat about the wines we tasted and compare the different vineyards, their wines and the characters that make the Loire the most innovative region for wine making in France.
Our retreats aim to take all the stress out of organising your own wine tour and accommodation, enjoy the comfortable surroundings of our home, the tranquillity and beauty of the town of Saumur and above all our hope is that all our guests have fun exploring great quality wines, with less of the jargon.
Whether your are a wine enthusiast wanting to explore this region's wines for the first time or more experienced looking for a personal immersion into this region, our wine retreats will offer you the opportunity to experience the wine in a way you will feel most comfortable.
Loire Valley Summer Wine and Food Retreat
For a rare and special event, we have set up an 'extra' tasting event this summer. Experience wine tasting on the rooftop of the theatre on your first night, taste wines from 5 specially selected winemakers who are stars in the region over the course of the weekend.
You will get to:
- Visit 5 amazing, local and innovative vineyards;
- Stay in an ensuite double bedroom at the beautiful La Maison Trumeau in the heart of historic town of Saumur;
- Breakfast and lunch will be served at La Maison Trumeau every day
- Attend a special wine tasting event with us on the rooftop of the Theatre Dome
- A 4 course evening meal at la Maison Trumeau on Friday including a blind tasting of local wines as an introduction to the different styles of wine you'll experience on the retreat
- Attend the Saturday food market in Saumur, a highlight for many visitors and locals alike, and sample some of the regions best local produce
- Evening meals on Thursday and Saturday night in 2 of Saumur's best restaurants.

The Grand Masters Wine and Food Experience - dates in 2025 tbc
For our Grand Masters retreat, we have chosen 5 of the most highly respected, experienced winemakers of the region. These winemakers have a long family history in the art of winemaking, producing some of THE best cabernet franc and chenin blanc wines in the world.
Included in this 3 day retreat, you will get to:
- Private visit to 5 of the region's top winemakers; see their chateau/domaines/cave
- Stay in an ensuite double bedroom at the beautiful La Maison Trumeau in the heart of historic town of Saumur;
- Breakfast and lunch will be served at La Maison Trumeau every day
- A 4 course evening meal on Thursday 5th September, including a blind tasting of local wines as an introduction to the different styles of wine you'll experience on the retreat
- Truffle Hunting event at Domaine Baron de la Truffe on Friday
- Evening meals on Friday and Saturday nights in 2 of Saumur's best restaurants
- Attend the Saturday food market in Saumur, a highlight for many visitors and locals alike, and sample some of the regions best local produce
- Option to attend the Fete de Vendage on Sunday morning, a highlight on Saumur's annual calendar celebrating the start of the grape harvest season
